There are plenty of visual customization options, although I would have liked to see more opportunities for custom livery. Those unfamiliar with a car's working will find the simplified descriptions easy to understand, while pro drivers can tune their car's suspension, gear ratio, differential, and brake balance. No matter your selection, you can enjoy the soft-body physics of Wreckfest, which range from Realistic (vehicles can get damaged from the smallest impacts) to Extreme (parts that normally can't be deformed can be flattened).Ĭustomization strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and complexity. Demolition derbies are a little more tedious than I would like (some traps or hazards would be welcome), but the carnage of spinning cars and flying wreckage is brilliant fun. Some races are silly affairs where you'll scoot around on sofas, whereas others are tense, high-octane matches where one wrong turn can spell doom. Some turns are very sharp and if you simply break to take that turn, you'll lose more speed than you would driftingĭrifting seems to hold more speed momentum in comparison to going slower to slowly take said turn.Events are demolition derbies or races, with numerous game modes within the two types. I might not be the best candidate for this answer, but i'll try anyway based on own experiences Assists off is best for drifting, but since drifting isn't the main objective, use your own judgement.Īll-wheel drive and front wheel drive cars are usually avoided for drift use. Limited slip or locked differential is best. Rear wheel drive cars are (by far) best for drifting, in some cases a manual ♥♥♥♥♥♥ works better than an automatic. And very car in this game drifts regardless of settings or choice. There is no scored or required "drift" mode race in this game, no XP or credits for a 250 meter slide. There is no real life experience necessary to accomplsh control of drift in this game. On a dirt and/or gravel track it is 100% unavoidable.Ĭontrolling drifting in this (or any other driiving/racing game) is a simple matter of correct application of countersteering, brake or handbrake and correct application of throttle. And every car in this game drifts regardless of settings or choice. Just out of curiousity, why or how is "drift" relevant in this game ? (Says someone who drives around an e36 with a welded diff as a semi-daily) I think wreckfest did a pretty good job when it comes to drifting. Most arcade games give completely wrong idea of how drifting works You actually have to do very similar control inputs as IRL (it is more evident with a wheel controller & no assists). While Wreckfest isn't quite a sim, this is more realistic game, there is no magic "Double tap LT to drift" mechanic like NFS. After hours of practice he finally managed to do it right a few times. When I put him to test Assetto Corsa and he had to do a counter-steer to catch a sliding car, he was clueless. Good example is my father, who had driven a car over 30 years every day. Most people who have driven a car IRL for years, have no clue how to do a counter-steer, because they never had to Wreckfest 2 would need to be all of what we got with the first game PLUS: weather, day/night cycles, pit stops with fuel/tire (with blowouts allowed) consumption & potential damage repair (even allowing for instant fixes and make this a variable that can be changed in the game menus in both SP & MP. When you haven't driven a car, how can you say what is natural. speaking as someone who can drift a car IRL pretty ok. Originally posted by Hyperion Biga:It feels very natural.
